Q1. When are our opening hours for scanning?Daily, except Sundays and Mondays. Q2. How long does the scan take? This depends on the Option package chosen , but is flexible. All clients may change their chosen Option during the scan. In general , we allow one hour between appointments in order that clients do not feel pressurised. Actual scanning time rarely exceeds 30 minutes. Q3. When is the optimum time for 3D pregnancy scanning? This is also flexible, and depends largely upon the “co-operation” of the baby. In general, the optimum time will be between 22 and 28 weeks, but other times may suit certain clients. Q4. Can clients self-refer for 3D scans?Yes…..but preferably after a second hospital scan if this is offered. Q5. Are all images of equal quality? The quality of all 2D , 3D and 4D images is dependent on the position of the baby, the distance between the probe and the baby, and the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby. Q6. Can the sex of the baby be determined? This will be attempted if requested by clients. NB. To avoid the necessity of repeat scans, it is recommended that sexing is not attempted before 20 weeks. Q7.Is ultrasound safe for mother and baby? The use of ultrasound in pregnancy has been monitored extensively and internationally over a period of more than forty years. No adverse effects have ever been reported or shown to exist at the exposure levels used in diagnostic ultrasound. Q8.What are the additional benefits of ultrasound scanning?2D / 3D and 4D scans carried out at Perth Baby Scan Studio are primarily intended to enhance bonding between parents and baby. Various medical journals in recent years have reported increasing evidence of both pyschological and other health benefits. It is believed that the mother's care of herself and the subsequent care of the baby may be enhanced by improved bonding. In addition, it has been reported that the incidence of post-natal depressive illness may be reduced after parents have enjoyed a bonding scan together. |
